I'll admit it: I love the Super Bowl. I'm into the game, the hype, the commercials, the whole bit. Okay, maybe not the halftime show most of the time, but I'm always up for the game.
Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl XLVII. Or if you don't want to figure out the Roman, Super Bowl 47. And today, something's gotta give. It's the San Francisco 49ers, 5-0 all time in Super Bowl appearances, going for the sixth Super Bowl title in franchise history and looking to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowls won by an NFL franchise. Standing in the way of the 49ers' quest for six are the Baltimore Ravens, who are 1-0 all time in Super Bowls, having won their only appearance in Super Bowl XXXV.
As you all probably know by now, it's an unprecedented coaching matchup in Super Bowl annals. Oh brother, where art thou? Across the field on the other sideline, that's where. Ravens coach John Harbaugh matches up against his younger brother, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. Who's got it better than the Harbaughs? NOOOOO-BODY.
This is your Super Bowl open thread. Unfortunately, we have no Cal alumni in this game. (BOOOO!) Enjoy the game nonetheless.
And if I may editorialize and wear my heart on my sleeve for a moment: GO NINERS!
