The football gods decided that without a blowout loss to mourn this weekend, we needed some other form of bad news. So, in addition to the unsurprising news that QB Zach Kline has decided to transfer, three-star DB Jeremy Winchester decided to make his decommitment official.
"I decommitted a couple of weeks ago from Cal," Winchester said. "I just didn't have the kind of relationship I wanted with the coaches and I just decided I need to look around. I would like to stay closer to home this time if I can. I know my parents would like that."
The 6-foot, 175-pound prep said he is favoring Kansas and Fresno State at this time. He doesn't have a visit set to either program yet.
This one's particularly painful since DB is a position we need to improve immediately. However, there's nothing wrong with Winchester wanting to play closer to home (I guess Fresno State is marginally closer to Texas) or wanting a better relationship with his coaches; best of luck to Winchester with his decision. Have we hit rock bottom yet?
