Cal All-Time Series vs. the Utes: 6-4
Last meeting: L, 3-1 (10-13-2013)

Coming off a weekend home split of the LA schools (lost to USC, beat UCLA), the still No.22 ranked Cal Golden Bears hit the mountain schools this weekend. First up are the Utah Utes who used solid blocking to edge the Bears in Berkeley last month. With the extra home advantage of the altitude to the Utes, can the Bears find a way to climb to a W?

Things will only get tougher comes Saturday night against a Colorado Buffs squad that are undefeated at home in Pac-12 play so far. The Bears will continue to look for at least a split to maintain the top 25 ranking.

Taking a look at the conference standings, the Bears would love to stay in that 4th spot. Both Colorado and Utah are also in the mix of not just making it to the NCAA tournament but being able to be seeded. In RPI, Bears remain at 29th in the country. Utah is actually ahead of the Bears at 18th while Colorado is at 32nd (the RPI results may have something to do with how Utah has beaten Cal already while Cal has beaten Colorado).

Cal's weekly video highlighting a Cal Olympic Sports athlete (Cal Olympic Sports Report) did a story on freshman setter Alyssa Jensen, her family (mainly her father's battle with pancreatic cancer), and her yearly efforts in raising money to fight cancer.

On a lighter note, Cal Volleyball players answer the very important question of "Do you want to be a Rock Star or a Movie Star"?

Finally, senior outside hitter Adrienne Gehan discussed the various Halloween costumes worn by the team last week, from her blog, Diggin' it with Adrienne Gehan.

This past week the team went to the Cal men's basketball game on Halloween. Some of us dressed up for the occasion, including Maddy as a vampire, Sabrina as a deer and Katie and Alyssa as sailors. After the game, the team cooked S'mores at Christina and Lindsey's apartment. Joan was the fire master and although the night remained safe, she may have enjoyed using the lighter fluid a little too much. Despite the sporadic bursts of flames, the night was super fun and it was great to spend Halloween with the team before our match against USC.

GO BEARS!
