Cal All-Time Series vs. the Beavers: 45-18
Last meeting: W, 3-2 (10-27-2013)
Oregon State may still be winless in the conference, but they should not be overlooked. Earlier in Berkeley, the Bears needed 5 sets to beat the Beavers. Of course, the Bears are now riding the highs of a tough mountain school road sweep last week where they exhibited great mental toughness in saving set points. If you believe that intangible stuff like confidence is an important thing in sports (particularly collegiate sports), the Bears may just be able to sustain the current win streak.
Bears rose two spots in the AVCA rankings this past week to No.20. That's also the same position for the Bears in the RPI. Should the Bears continue to rise in the rankings, they just might be able to earn home court advantage in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament (typically associated with a team being seeded in the top 16...but not an exact science for some weird reason).
Bears are also rising in the Pac-12 standings.
