What else is there to say at this point? After struggling all season because he was thrust into a starting role sooner than anybody expected, Hardy Nickerson was starting to deliver on his obvious talent. Now, thanks to an injury suffered against USC, he's out for the rest of the year. We don't currently have any information regarding the severity of the injury, but at this point I think it's safe to say that there's not really any point to risking continued injury for any player.
#Cal LB Hardy Nickerson out for the rest of the season. More to come when we talk with Sonny.

Nickerson, a redshirt freshman, was given the opportunity to start after injuries to incumbent middle linebacker Nick Forbes. True freshman Chad Whitener is, to the best of my knowledge, now the only healthy natural middle linebacker on the roster. I'm sure we'll get word on what Cal plans to do for emergency depth. Richard Rodgers for MLB!
