Last week in Cal Women's Soccer: Then No. 15 Bears played two matches last week. Hosting Pac-12 rival Arizona last Friday (on the Pac-12 Network) where on an over aggressive play by the Bears goalkeeper, Emily Kruger, coming out of the goal to challenge the lone attacker (after a Bears defensive breakdown) but getting caught using her hands outside of the goal area, resulted in a red card early in the second half. A 10 women Bears squad eventually fall to the upstarting Arizona team (picked to be dead last in the conference preseason but are clearly much better than that) 2-1. Bears bounced back with a nonconference road game at Nevada, where the Bears triumphed 3-0.
This afternoon, the now No. 19 Bears (7-3, 0-1) host Oregon (5-3-2, 0-0-1). The high-scoring Bears (2nd in the Pac-12 in goals with 24 and goals per game at 2.40) will also take on the Oregon Beavers on Sunday (also available on the Pac-12 Networks).
GO BEARS!
