We interrupt this regularly scheduled weekly sked post to talk SBN United. When we last talked United, we were looking at our new logo.
And yknow, I'm as frustrated as the next person that we have to change the logo. I really love our logo and think it provides a reflection of our unique voice in the blogosphere here. Having said that, it's mostly cosmetic and once you get a chance to look at the engine of United, you'll really, really, really be happy. I know I will be.
Of course, Berkeleyans have an interesting relationship with change. We LOVE to be on the cutting edge of whatever. Avante garde this, progressive that. But we also so HATE change that we let a place like Telegraph Ave continue to flounder despite everybody's better judgment.
So, I fully expect people to climb into trees when the switch over occurs. I know how everybody is with the Facebook changes. "If I wanted Twitter, I'd create a Twitter account!" "This new Facebook layout is worse than 1 million Hitlers!" Then, three weeks later, it's "I cannot remember a time before this new Facebook layout" or even "There was an old Facebook layout?"
Anyway, so I am in full anticipation of people flipping out a bit on this, but stick with us, because it is going to be pretty chill. Once the last of your waste buckets are lowered from the trees, you'll realize that you pre-judged! It'll help us get the absolute best content to you. It'll help us organize content better. It'll be faster. It'll have cool features that blow your mind in a way that the English language cannot fully explain. Plus, it'll look beautiful! I know we're not UCLA students here, so physical beauty isn't as important to us. But it can't hurt to look good! Please note that SBN United cannot make you actually more beautiful. Also, please stop asking for us to make you look more beautiful!
