The Pac-12 Conference Volleyball schedule kicked off in style this week with rivalry games (started last night with Washington over Wazzu in 4 sets and Arizona over Arizona State also in 4 sets). Cal Volleyball find themselves starting the conference schedule on the road at the home of the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal - in part one of the Big Spike. The game is on the Pac-12 Networks (note the plural since Utah @ Colorado and Oregon State @ Oregon, both also starting at 7 PM, are also on the network - UCLA @ USC is on ESPNU), just like almost all of the other Pac-12 conference volleyball games. With all these Pac-12 volleyball on TV, it is the perfect time to get in on the exciting volleyball action, even if you have not follow volleyball before. In case you missed it, here is the link to my volleyball primer / Cal Volleyball 2012 preview from two nights ago.
Programming note: while Cal's second conference game at Colorado on Saturday night is NOT on Pac-12 network, it is listed as being available via Pac-12 Digital.
While Cal still trails Stanford greatly in the all time series record, Cal Athletics's preview does point out that
The Bears have won four in a row over Stanford overall and six of the past eight meetings between the teams.
Stanford has a highly regarded freshmen class that may still be finding their footing while the injury-ridden Bears do already have an impressive road win at Hawaii on their resume (despite overall inconsistent pre-conference play). Should be a very exciting match.
