Cal Field Hockey vs. Northwestern on Pac-12 Networks Open Thread

Archived Footage of Cal Field Hockey in action from 2009

TV: Pac-12 Networks (online stream for subscriber only)

Time: 2 PM PT, August 31st

We interrupt the Cal football story/discussion/anticipation with another appearance by the No. 16 Cal Field Hockey on the Pac-12 Networks, this time hosting the No. 20 Northwestern Wildcats. After losing an extremely close (2-1) game to the No. 1 ranked Maryland a week ago on the Pac-12 Networks, the Cal Bears bounced back with a 6-0 home crushing of the Saint Louis Billikens. With her great defensive effort as the goalie, freshman Joelle van Hoorn won NorPac Defensive Player of the Week (over players from Stanford and other schools)!

So tune in to what could be another exciting field hockey game on the Pac-12 Networks between two ranked teams. Enjoy the great views of Maxwell Family Field and Berkeley on the broadcast (maybe we will get more/better Field Hockey recruits in the future just by how gorgeous Berkeley look in these broadcasts). Learn something about the game of Field Hockey (greatly popular and not just a women's sport outside the US), in the 2nd for 4 appearance by Cal Field Hockey on the Pac-12 Networks (the last two are both of the Stanford games). Maybe another member of the Cal football team, or Cal Athletics, may make an appearance to be interviewed!

GO BEARS!

By the way, Field Hockey is not the only team in action today.

No. 22 Cal Men's Soccer goes on the road to take on Virginia at 4 PM PT. Follow the score via GameTracker or twitter. UVa does have a video for this game, but it's subscription only.

Women's Soccer is also on the road @ Cal Poly at 6 PM PT. Get score update via twitter.

Finally, No. 25 Cal Volleyball is in Hawaii for the Wahine Volleyball Classic at 8 PM PT. Bears will start play tonight against the Bears of Baylor. Get score update via twitter. The match tomorrow against San Francisco will probably also not be streamed. Bears' Sunday night match against Hawaii will be available online.

GO BEARS!

Good luck to the Bears in making Charlottesville, San Luis Obispo, and Honolulu Bear Territory.
