London 2012 Olympic Games: Primetime Open Thread (August 10th)

Allyson Felix has been winning plenty of medals for Team USA. According to Wikipedia, Adidas signed her and paid for her college (U$C) so that she never raced in college. Does her medals count for U$C?

Without posting a primetime open thread last night, apparently I may inadvertently caused a summer rating low of the London 2012 games (play along readers, clearly writing for CGB has given me delusions of grandeur). Anyhow, we're back with an open thread to cover more track and field action and diving.

Feel free to vent about NBC's fluff pieces today, speculate on what they would cut from the closing ceremony for another Ryan Seacrest interview, and comment on whether we should count Allyson Felix's medals for U$C if she merely attend that school as a student and never raced competitively for them.

Here is the official NBC description for tonight:

Track and field will crown six champions and host Bob Costas will take fans through all the big events. The women’s 4x100m relay and men’s 4x400m relays highlight the action. Both the U.S. teams are in medal contention but face strong competition in the Jamaican teams. The U.S. women look to redeem themselves from a dropped baton in 2008 and the men’s team features new faces aiming to keep the legacy of the U.S. alive in the 4x400m relay. Men’s 10m platform preliminaries kick off the last diving competition.

Watch On TV: NBC (8p-12a)
