The Bears somehow won Thursday night despite getting outhit and committing another four errors. In the early innings USC seemed poised to blow the game open, and Michael Theofanopoulos was working in and out of trouble constantly. But he kept the Bears close and gave the offense time to wake up. When it finally did, the Bears rattled off five runs in the last four innings to steal a victory away from the Trojans.

As has often been the case over the last few weeks it was the play of Vince Bruno that sparked Cal's comeback. The leadoff hitter collected three hits and was involved in every inning that Cal scored. But the unsung heroes came out of the bullpen. Keaton Siomkin, Chris Muse-Fisher and Joey Donofrio combined for four shutdown innings in which they collected five strikeouts while allowing just two baserunners.

Cal will look to clinch a series win early behind Matt Flemer, Cal's unexpected ace. The converted closer carries a 2.68 ERA over 50 innings into tonight's contest. USC counters with righty Andrew Triggs (3.38 ERA). Go Bears!
