Even though the Cal Softball team is #1 in the nation right now, it is rare that any sort of online stream exists for them. Cal does not stream the games, but sometimes our opponents do. This weekend's series against the Arizona Wildcats is one of those times. So, we can have open threads.
You can follow the game here at the Gametracker. Or, alternatively, you can go to Arizona Athletics' UStream page to watch the game. Why can't Cal get a UStream page? The Pac-12 channel cannot come soon enough. You can also follow the game on Twitter. So, there are several options to follow the game.
The game starts at 1 PM. Cal took the first game of this HUGE series 2-0 yesterday:
Score: No. 1 Cal 2, Arizona 0
Site: Levine-Fricke Field (Berkeley, Calif.)
Records: Cal 38-1/10-0 Pac-12; Arizona 28-11/7-6 Pac-12
Cal Leaders: Jolene Henderson (7.0 IP, 6 H, 10 SO); Valerie Arioto (1 R, 2 BB); Elia Reid (1 R)
Next Cal Game: Saturday vs. No. 13 Arizona (1 p.m.)
BERKELEY -It took six innings, a passed ball and a wild pitch, but the No. 1 California softball team tallied a 2-0 win over No. 13 Arizona on Friday afternoon at Levine-Fricke Field. Thanks to the series-starting win, the Golden Bears improve to 38-1 overall and 10-0 in the Pac-12 while the Wildcats drop to 28-11 and 7-6 in conference play.
After Wildcat hurler Kenzie Fowler had retired seven Bears in a row, Valerie Arioto broke through with a walk to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Jace Williams followed that up with a grounder back to Fowler for a single. Fowler went to throw Arioto out at second, but the ball bounded into center field, allowing Arioto to move to third.
We will be at this game, so you can follow our tweets, too!
Good luck to the Softball team as they take on one of the best teams in the nation (13th best) in Arizona. GO BEARS!
