For what seems like the third year in a row, the recruiting news seems a lot more fun than the actual football. One of our top targets has verballed to be a Bear, as outside linebacker/tight end Victor Egu is committing to Cal.
Officially committed to Cal #calbound

Here are the rankings:
ESPN: 4 stars, 22nd best OLB, 38th best recruit in California
Rivals: 43rd best outside linebacker, 76th best recruit in state of California
Scout: 3 stars, 61st best OLB
247 Sports: 3 stars, 52nd best ILB, 108th best recruit in California
Here's are his highlight reels, courtesy of Hudl.
Take a look at Egu's list: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Washington State in the Pac-12, plus schools like Boise State, Notre Dame and Nebraska. Egu supposedly loved his Oregon visit, so landing him over the Ducks is pretty good.
Despite all the madness on the football field, we're still landing solid recruits. Gotta credit the coaching staff here. I'm guessing this was Kenwick Thompson's guy, and the Cal linebacking corps has definitely been one of the pluses this season.
Of course, as ManBearCal notes, it'll be critical that he's committing to Cal the school rather than Cal the coaching staff, because, well, you know. Hopefully, committing despite all the losses has to be a good sign that he wants to be a Bear.
Welcome to Cal, Victor! Go Bears!
