Cal Volleyball at Washington Open Thread

Another week of Pac-12 volleyball play, another top 10 opponent. For the first time this season, Bears did win the first match of the week on Friday (3 sets of Wazzu) but now face a tall order to get back to .500 in the conference. Go Bears

It's the last match before the half way point of the conference season (apparently this year is no longer a true round robin as the Bears only face Utah and Colorado once), the Golden Bears (10-9, 4-5) face the Washington Huskies (16-2, 7-2) in Seattle today. While Washington is also ranked in the top 10, the Bears have the longest win streak over UW of any conference foe, having won six straight and kept the Huskies from the Final Four in 2010.

The Bears are coming off a 3 set sweep (25-21, 25-21, 25-21) of Wazzu up in Pullman on Friday night, lead by Sophomore Christina Higgins' 14 kills. This was one of the more impressive win for the injury depleted Golden Bears squad. Washington are coming off a 5 set thrilling loss to Stanfurd on Friday.

A win today would be great toward the Bears' odd of keeping a making the NCAA tournament.

GO BEARS!
