After a lull in recruiting, the Bears have landed their next commitment in the 2013 recruiting class. Cathedral athlete Torry McTyer picked up his first offer from Cal earlier this month, and it was enough to make him pull the trigger without the need to wait for other prominent offers.
"I had a good talk with my family tonight and we all decided Cal was the best place for me" Cathedral ATH Torry McTyer said

McTyer is listed at about 6-1, 175-176 pounds with a sub-4.5 40 speed. Ron Gould was McTyer's primary recruiter. McTyer's dad played football at BYU and during a brief span in the NFL as a DB.
McTyer is not too well known on the recruiting circuit yet (only Scout currently has him ranked as of this point). What is known is that he's been getting footballs lobbed to him on a regular basis by one of the best pro-style quarterbacks in the country in LSU commit Hayden Rettig. McTyer is Rettig's leading receiver so far this season in terms of yards (378 on 18 catches) and touchdowns (7 out of Rettig's 20 that he's thrown). Hopefully as the season picks up, more attention will be drawn to McTyer
As an athlete, McTyer would probably play either as a wide receiver or a defensive back depending on what we need.

More indepth coverage coming up. In the meantime, welcome to Cal, Torry! GO BEARS!
