David Esquer Agrees To New 5 Year Contract; Mike Neu Hired As Pitching Coach

From the official CalBears site, comes the news that baseball Coach David Esquer has agreed to a 5 year contract: California head baseball coach David Esquer, who led the Golden Bears to their first appearance at the NCAA College World Series since 1992 this spring, has agreed to a new five-year contract to remain with the school. "I couldn't be happier continuing to be the head baseball coach here at Cal," said Esquer, the 2011 National Coach of the Year. "This is great, not only for myself but for my family. We love it here. And I love the type of high-level student-athlete we attract at the University of California. I am looking forward to continuing the program's playoff success, and my goal is to get us back to the College World Series." Hopefully, he will build off of the momentum of this past season and continue to grow Cal baseball for 5 or more great years! GO BEARS! Ryan Gorcey tweets that Mike Neu (head coach at Diablo Valley College, former pitcher for the As and Marlins, CWS champ with Miami) has been hired as pitching coach.
