Cal has a huge opportunity to pick up a valuable series win on the road against an elite team after splitting yesterday's double header.
In game 1 Erik Johnson and Sam Gaviglio both had their good stuff, but Gaviglio controlled it better. Johnson's 6 walks and 1 HBP contributed to both Oregon St. rallies. Meanwhile, Cal couldn't get hits with runner on base and Oregon St. held on for the shut out win, 3-0.
However, Cal did come up with the big hits in game 2, including a Tony Renda home run in the 5th inning that finished a 3 run rally off of Josh Osich that gave Cal the lead for good. It was enough for Justin Jones, who threw a complete game to pick up the victory.
Dixon Anderson (4-2, 4.28) will be pitching for the series win, while the #3 Beavers haven't announced their 3rd starter. Building the Dam predicted that Ben Wetzler (5-2, 4.12) would get the nod. Go Bears!
