Jordan Wallace led the way with three RBI courtesy two doubles. Lindsey Ziegenhirt contributed two with a homer to center and Victoria Jones tallied two RBI as well.
With the bases loaded, Ashley Decker - who was hitting .250 with the bass juiced - earned herself a walk to plate Britt Vonk, who had singled to short. Victoria Jones put one on the ground to third with the bases loaded, scoring Williams. Jordan Wallace doubled to the wall in left, scoring two more and forcing Kentucky's hand, bringing in Rachel Riley to relieve starter Chanda Bell. A wild pitch brought home Victoria Jones, though that run was unearned due to a drop foul ball by Brittany Cervantes.
After the jump Alexis Gray-Lawson fights for a WNBA roster spot, crew comes tantalizingly close to a national title, and Jana Juricova makes a run for an NCAA singles tennis title
- Alexis Gray-Lawson has had an excellent pre-season and seems to be in a decent position to make the roster of the Phoenix Mercury.
- Cal was swept away by Stanford over the weekend, placing a damper on the end of the year and perhaps putting just a bit of doubt on their NCAA playoff chances.
- Cal’s 4 women boat wins an individual national title and Cal’s II eight women boat takes the bronze, but the Bears just miss a team national title by the slimmest of margins in the final eight women boat race.
#1 seed Jana Juricova beat defending national champion Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia to advance to the individual semi-finals, and also advanced to the semi-finals in doubles with partner Mari Andersson. Juricova is playing for a spot in the finals this afternoon and if she advances, will play for the national title tomorrow.
