Yesterday the Bears got Bauer'd and there's no real shame in that.  Dixon Anderson put in a solid start and Chad Bunting hit a solo shot, but two early UCLA runs (one unearned) were enough for probably the best collegiate pitcher in America.

The loss sets up a huge rubber match today.  The Bears are still yet to win a series against a likely playoff participant in Pac-10 play, getting swept by Arizona St. and losing two of three to Arizona and Oregon St.  A series win on the road would go a long way towards solidifying Cal as a 2 seed and hopefully help prevent getting sent cross country into the eastern time zone.

Justin Jones (7-4, 3.05) will be pitching for the series win just four days after earning the win against UC Davis on Wednesday.  It won't get much easier for Cal's lineup, as they face Adam Plutko (5-3, 1.65), a potential candidate for freshman of the year.  At least Plutko is unlikely to pitch all 9 innings like Bauer did yesterday.  Either way, expect the winning team to score less than 5 runs again.  That's just Pac-10 baseball this year.  Go Bears!
