Cal picked up a huge series opening win against the Bruins yesterday behind a combined shutout from Erik Johnson and Kyle Porter and just enough hitting for a 4-0 final margin.  Together Johnson and Porter struck out 10 batters and allowed just 3 singles, ultimately facing just five batters over the minimum in a dominating performance.  Tony Renda picked up an RBI single in the 1st inning, and pinch hitter Andrew Knapp broke it open with a bases clearing double in the 8th after UCLA walked two Bears to load the bases.

Picking up a second straight win will be even tougher, because arguably the best pitcher in the nation is throwing for UCLA today.  Trevor Bauer has been nearly unhittable of late.  109.2 innings, 167 Ks, 1.40 ERA, 7 complete games - the numbers are cartoonish.  For a more in-depth look at Bauer, check out MadBum's break down over at Golden Bear Lair (He also has a good series preview up).

It's unclear if it will be Dixon Anderson or Kevin Miller going for the Bears today.  Cal's game notes actually list Justin Jones as the Saturday starter, but he pitched four innings on Wednesday and is likely to pitch on Sunday.  Anderson and Miller both pitched against UC Davis as well, but only two and one innings respectively.  I would expect to see both on the mound at some point today, no matter who starts.  Go Bears!
