Cal brought in all kinds of confidence to their Easter weekend home stand against Arizona St., but the weekend finished with three defeats. And each defeat held a similar theme – Cal’s lineup just couldn’t muster and kind of threat to Arizona St.’s pitching staff. Twice Cal was unable to score a run against the Sun Devils, representing the only times this season Cal has failed to score a run. CGB will have much more on these games later this week.
It probably would have been nice to have a few days off to regroup and prepare for their next series against Oregon, but just one day will have to suffice. Tonight Cal takes on Stanford at Sunken Diamond in what is technically a non-conference game. Cal has already lost at Stanford, by a score of 3-2 in the third game of the season.
The sweep to ASU hurts, but Cal is still in the top half of the standings in a tough, tough Pac-10. If they can knock off Stanford today they’ll be going home to face a struggling Oregon squad and can rebuild the momentum lost against the Sun Devils. Go Bears!
