Well, every game can't be a shutout, and Cal's pitchers finally had a game to forget after a streak of spectacular pitching.  USC scored early and often to record a 10-6 victory.  Erik Johnson had an unusually rocky start, allowing 5 runs in five innings that included two walks, three hit batsmen and two home runs from USC's best player, first baseman Ricky Oropesa.  The Bears mounted a strong rally to tie the game in the fifth with five runs, but Cal's bullpen was unable to keep the game close.  It was a frustrating game to listen to as the Trojans had constant base runners and scored runs in seven different innings.

Cal will try to get back on track with Justin Jones on the mound.  Jones (3-1, 2.79 ERA) is coming off an excellent start against Washington St. last Saturday.  USC counters with Austin Wood (1-4, 5.13 ERA) as they look to capitalize on some rare positive momentum.  Go Bears!
