Your intrepid reporter is down in the dregs at 40th of 46 after going 12/25 on opening weekend. Notable picks, and the first weekend of College Fantasy Football after the jump.
- Where did Mission Marauders trip up? That would be picking UNM to cover the spread against Oregon (-34.5), Texas (-30.5) to cover against Rice, TCU (-13.5) to cover against Oregon State, Wisconsin to cover against UNLV (-20.5), Tulsa to cover against East Carolina (-7.5), and Texas Tech to cover against SMU (-13.5).
- As a matter of fact, only three people correctly picked Rice to cover against Texas - Cyldesdales, califas_uber_alles, and tbardhan.
- Everyone pushed on Purdue/Notre Dame, since the line was ND - 11.
- Everyone correctly picked Cal, Virginia, Stanfurd, and Arizona State. Mostly because their games were all off the board and straight up with no spread.
- omnizzle made a grand total of two picks - Maryland (+6) against Navy, and VT (+2) against Boise State.
- Four people (moktagon, sec119, Forsett in his Mouth, and tbardhan) picked Washington State (+16) to cover against Oklahoma State. They did not.
- Nine people picked Akron (+8.5) against Syracuse. They were wrong.

Last week's matchups:
Yellow Fever defeated Followers of Mohamed 91.5 to 90.25 behind sterling performances from Robert Griffin and Marc Tyler. Cody Johnson of Texas and Jeff Anderson of FAU were summarily dismissed for their efforts and wished the best in their future endeavors.
Team Winner was just that in defeating Joe Starkey sucks 134-127 behind Greg Kinne of Tulsa. There is no way that Team Winner chose to start him on purpose. Then again, when his backup QBs are the Luckmeister and a guy whose name makes him sound like he should be out fishing in the nordic, maybe he realized he didn't have any better options.
The Meddlesome Marmots fell to Riley for Heisman by a score of 125.5-105.25 as Riley for Heisman didn't start Riley, or even have Riley on its roster.
Berkeley's Finest managed to defeat 4ever Golden 121.25-99.25 despite not starting anyone from Berkeley.
In the highest scoring matchup of the weekend, ILikeMyFriedRiceWithExtraMSG beat atomsareenough 168-159.5, which is unfortunate for atoms because they would have been a win against anyone else. (Likewise, my score would have lost to anyone else.) MSG was powered by Avian Overlord Kenjon Barner and Brandon Weeden of Oklahoma State, while atoms' 49 points from Kendall Hunter wasn't enough. Alas.

Tedford's Sunshine Pumpers triumphed over HydroTech 146.75-92.5 in a battle which confused us all, because we were under the impression that Hydro was the HSPIC (Head Sunshine Pumper In Charge). The Sunshine Pumpers rode Barner and Terrelle Pryor to victory, as Hydro's lackluster performances from Blaine Gabbert and Jacquizz Rodgers weren't enough.
Dirty Sanchez crushed born to longsnap 152.5-107 (clearly we do not have Mike Pouncey in our league) with a nice all-around effort in which no individual scored more than 31 points - and that was the Ohio State defense. And just like in real life, Jake Locker was unable to lead his undermanned team to victory.
In league's battle of the weak, Godzilla Ballers beat Clydesdales 97.5-86.75 behind Jacory Harris and John Clay. Clydesdales was not helped by Mark Ingram being inactive and Zack Collaros' new propensity for sucking.
The week's biggest beatdown took place as the #1GreatestThreatToAmerica composted the fighting philosophers 143.25-79.75. Maybe it would have helped if they had a QB who was actually starting instead of backing up Taylor Potts at Texas Tech, though it seems unlikely that it would have been enough along with DeMarco Murray's superlative performance to make up the sizable difference.
Tongan Megathrusters megathrusted their way past Big BAM 160.75-122 behind Kendall Hunter and Nick Foles, as KEENAN ALLEN! wasn't enough to save the day. This time. And for what will surely be, the last time.
