Tedford & Company

  • Richard Rodgers, TE St. Johns (Shrewsbury, MA) named Central MA Div 1A Football MVP [1].
  • Stefan McClure, CB Vista (Vista, CA) selected as San Diego North County Times Defensive Player of the Year [2].

A shutdown cornerback, the senior ranks among the section leaders in interceptions. He is also a threat returning kicks and as a receiver, totalling 50 catches for 1,165 yards and 13 TDs.

  • Todd BarrHardy Nickerson Jr., LB Bishop O'Dowd Dragons (Oakland, CA) {2012} named one of the Top Defensive Players in CIF North Coast Section Div III [3].
  • Zach Kline, QB (Cal) San Ramon Valley (Danville, CA) {2012} earned Honorable Mention to All-EBAL Team [4][5].
  • Zach Banner, OL Lakes Lancers (Lakewood, WA) {2012} 6-9/310lbs named to Washington News Tribune's 2010 All-Area Football Team [6].

The mountain-sized offensive tackle is one of the top recruits in the country. He has scholarship offers for two-dozen schools, including Washington, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC. Banner is also a standout on the basketball court and has offers from eight schools. He said he will wait until his senior year to make a decision.

  • Marqise Lee, ATH, Serra (Gardena, CA) received Cal coaches last night. They will visit George Farmer, WR tonight [7]. Jason Gibson, OLB will receive Cal coaches tomorrow [8]. Gibson is visiting Arizona State this weekend and not going with Lee & Farmer to Miami-FL.
  • Brennan Scarlett, DE/TE Central Catholic (Portland, OR) may want to get out of Oregon for college and most likely will land in California according to Anthony Newman of Oregon Sports Network. Newman is also a coach at Central Catholic [9].
  • Jordan Rigsbee, OG Pleasant Valley (Chico, CA) named to All-Eastern Athletic League football team [10].
  • Todd Barr, DT Lakewood (Lakewood, CA) pursued football instead of basketball because of his coach's advice [11].

Barr is also a fine student with a 3.75 GPA. His smarts translate to the football field, where he is praised for his savvy.

"He's got great athletic ability, and the quickness - those first two steps when he comes off the ball," MacNeal said. "And to top it all off he's smart."

Barr has been heavily recruited in the Pac-10, with California, UCLA and Oregon apparently the front-runners. Florida and Miami are also on his list. Because of an emphasis on academics, Cal has been considered his favorite.

  • Kameron Jackson, CB Poly (Long Beach, CA) offered by Cal and will be visiting Berkeley this weekend [$12].

"Cal just offered me last week," Jackson said. "Utah and Cincinnati also offered during the season and I'm going to take an official visit to Cal (Dec. 3). I'm still solid to Washington but I just want to weigh out my options and have something to compare to UW.

  • Brendon Bigelow, RB Central East (Fresno, CA) visited Oregon and was blown away [$13]. Bigelow was thought to be Oregon's only RB target until a scholarship offer went out to Tra Carson of Liberty-Eylau (Texarkana, TX) [14]. Carson broke many school records held by LaMichael James.
  • James Sample, S Grant (Sacramento, CA) still has Washington on top but visited Berkeley for Cal-Oregon [15].
  • Matt Williams, OT North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton, ND) visited Florida State w/ teammate Jacob Fahrenkrug [16].
  • Bryce Treggs, WR St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) {2012} offered by Cal [$17].
  • Cyrus KouandjioGarrett Adcock, OG Dallas Christian (Dallas, TX) {2012} 2010 highlights [18]

  • Shaq Thompson, ATH Grant Union (Sacramento, CA) {2012} is expected to play Friday against Folsom for CIF Sacramento-San Joaquin Section Div II championship [19]. Thompson's ankle X-ray showed no fractures and Grant should be at full strength w/ Thompson and Ference Lang cleared to play from ankle injuries.

Winner of Grant-Folsom will be in a CIF Bowl game.

Monty & Crew

  • Ricardo Gathers, PF 6-6/235 Riverside Academy (Reserve, LA) {2012} has the physical strength and maturity to excel at Div I [20]. LSU, Ohio State, Cal lead for Gathers [$21].

Said Evan Daniels, national recruiting analyst for Scout.com: "I think the first thing you notice about Ricardo Gathers is his body, and how strong and developed he is.

"He has developed an ability to face up from 15 to 18 feet and knock down jump shots. He has a good set of hands. He is really strong around the basket."

Gathers' maturity is another strength. In the offseason, he awoke at 5 a.m. before school to lift weights at a gym located a block from his LaPlace residence. He likes to study players such as Amar'e Stoudemire and LeBron James, but he said he is careful not to pattern his game too much after another because he considers each skill set to be unique.

  • Shabazz Muhammad, SG 6-5/190 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) {2012} heading to Kentucky-North Carolina game this Saturday [22].
