Stefan McClure, CB Vista (Vista, CA) earned his US Army All-American selection [1]. Q&A [2]. McClure will most likely make an official visit to UCLA in January [$3].
As for recruiting, McClure is still uncommitted and taking an official visit to Oregon State this weekend. The Beavers aren't considered one of his favorites but they could make up ground with a good trip
"I'm just going out there to see if it's somewhere where I like the school and the environment," McClure said.
"I want to see how the coaches coach the players and if it's somewhere where they get the best out of their players and I want to see the energy they have. I want to see what kind of (academic) programs they have for the students, too."
McClure took an unofficial visit to Cal last weekend and apparently loved it. After the trip, the four-star recruit said the Golden Bears have moved up on his list.
He has already taken an official visit to Washington and has to go to Oregon and UCLA before making his decision. The prevailing thought is that the Bruins and Huskies are his two favorite teams at this point in his recruitment.
McClure might not be prepared to make a decision at the Army game since his UCLA visit is scheduled for after the all-star event. He does plan, though, to make a commitment before National Signing Day in February [4].

Colt Lyerla, ATH Hillsboro (Hillsboro, OR) unofficially visited Eugene during Oregon's bye-week [5]. USC & Oregon may lead, w/ UCLA, Nebraska, Cal, Arizona in pursuit [6].
-
Jordan Rigsbee, OG Pleasant Valley (Chico, CA) named Athlete of the Week after Pleasant Valley Vikings' victory over Foothill [7]. Rigsbee was more fierce & fiery than the most physical team in the section.
-
Matt Williams, OT North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton, ND) liked his visit to Michigan State [8].
SpartanMag.com’s Jim Comparoni spoke with Mike Shafer, Williams’ offensive line coach at North Dakota School of Science, to get some details about the official visit.
"He came back from Michigan State and said, 'I kind of like these visits,'" Shafer said. "He said Michigan State was just awesome. He really enjoyed it. He said he's glad he chose Michigan State to be one of his visits. He said it was different than California. Well, it's two completely different parts of the country, where the culture is different. He enjoyed every minute of it."
Williams plans to visit Florida State before he makes a decision. He has already visited Illinois and California.
-
Patrick Flavin, OT Benet Academy (Lisle, IL) was on the sidelines for Illinois-Northwestern at Wrigley Field [9]. Flavin might skip Oregon and make his official visit to Illinois his last [10].
-
Brennan Scarlett, DE/TE Central Catholic (Portland, OR) out of the rest of the Oregon prep football playoffs due to his broken collarbone injury [11].
-
Thomas Johnson, ATH Skyline (Dallas, TX) {2012} profiled [12]
It was clear watching Johnson that he’s still very raw in terms of his route running and grasp of the various nuances of the position. What the kid can do though is burn your ass on a go route. He’s explosive coming off the line and has that extra gear that you look for in a deep threat. On one play, it looked like Kincade overthrew him on a deep route, but he simply accelerated and caught up with the ball, nearly making a spectacular over the shoulder catch at full speed. The ball slipped through his hands, but it was an effort only an elite athlete could have made. Most receivers would have laid out for it but Johnson ran straight through it. When you consider he’s still recovering from a severe ankle sprain, he was even more impressive.
