Q and A with G L and B

Gutty Little Bruins is one of the finest UCLA blogs out there.  They are everything What's Bruin, Dawg is (UCLA fans) with nothing What's Bruin, Dawg also is (UGA fans).  Don't get me wrong, WB,D is a great Bruins blog, too.  Those are arguably 2 of the best, if not the best.  They have a great level of analysis about something we are all passionate about: college sports

The blogosphere is lucky to have these two UCLA blogs out there, helping break down the important issues of the day for UCLA patriots!   We already work with WB, D on the Roundtable, so we thought we'd take GLB for a spin.  Go for a test drive.  Kick the tires.  We sent them some questions.  Here are there answers.

We also got CougCenter's Pac10 Top 10 Compilation.  That is after the fold.

1.  Kevin Craft seems to be progressing week to week and is actually looking like a decent QB now.  Would you agree?  Are you happy with his level of play so far?

I totally think the guy is a winner. I'm not going to mince words here: Our O-line blows.  Dude was sacked 7 times against Stanford and was running for his life on about every other play...but when he had to make a play he did...and when he had to step up in the pocket...he did.  You also got to remember, he's only been in the system for about half of a year and probably around 80 percent of his passes are intended for true freshman at UCLA.  I think he's doing fine and when UCLA actually has a running game and a decent OL, he's going to be able to do some great things. I'm excited for next year.

2.  Did you guy(s) want to see Dorrell fired?

HAH! Yes, but we all respected Karl Dorrell.  As much as we wanted him to win, he just couldn't get the job done.  Granted we have Norm Chow calling the plays upstairs now, but we have already seen more creativity in UCLA's offense in these first 7 games then we've seen in Dorrell's entire tenure.

3.  Since Tedford arrived at Cal in 2002, when Cal and UCLA play each other the home team wins.  Coincidence or not?  Does UCLA stand less of a chance to win in '08 because the game is at Memorial and not the Rose Bowl?

Oh that's not a coincidence. Dorrell could NOT win at the road.  It took him until 2006 to beat a team on the road with a winning record...that was like 5 years. If Dorrell won half the games he won at home on the road, Rick Neuheisel would probably be out of a job.

Rick Neuheeisl's biggest test will be how he can get our boys to play on the road.  He has traditionally had a pretty strong road record...I think he won his first 8 games on the road at Colorado. Cal will have the advantage...but I think UCLA can make this a game.

4.  How much do you expect UCLA to win by?

-10

5. Any chance we could convince you to let us win?

WHAT? Dude, we lost to Fresno State and BYU laid 59 on us.  UCLA just wants to keep it close and then, maybe, pull something out of its hat in the 4th quarter.

6.  Wanna beat Arizona for us too?

Those jackasses. We already lost to them...I'd rather gouge my eyes out than lose to Mike Stoops.

7.  Which would you prefer?  Losing to Cal by 50 points or losing to USC by 1 point?

I'd rather be disemboweled while being forced to watch the View.  But if I had to choose...Cal by 50...

8.  Which would you prefer?  Five dollars or a degree from USC?

Well, if you give me the five bucks, couldn't I just buy a degree from USC?

9.  What is the most important defensive player we should be aware of for the
  upcoming Cal-UCLA game?

Brian Price, the Defensive Tackle.  Gun don't kill people. Brian Price Kills people.

10.  How long do you think before UCLA is back into the hunt for a Pac10 crown?

Now, you are going to think I'm crazy, but I think UCLA is going to have a great year next year.  The O-line should be pretty solid as UCLA will be getting Kai Maivia in from Colorado and Sean Sheller back from injury (This just in: UCLA just received a commit from Stan Hasiak...the top lineman from Hawaii...so him too), Craft will have another year in the system, almost all the starters are returning on defense and offense. and the schedule is gravy.  I think UCLA can compete for the Pac-10 as early as next year

11.  What's in *your* passion bucket?

Oh come on. I figured out by the sixth time someone asked me that this was a trick question.

12.  What's easier to score on?  A USC co-ed or WSU's defense?

PSHHHHHH. USC co-eds aren't that hard to figure out.  Just tell them you drive a beamer and your dad's co-worker's sister's best friend knows Nick Lachey and you are home free.
