Seattle Storm Sign Polish center Ewelina Kobryn After Waiving Ify Ibekwe

The Seattle Storm have signed 6'3" center Ewelina Korbyn after waiving Ify Ibekwe yesterday. There's plenty more about Kobryn from Seattle Times reporter Jayda Evans via the link above but the bottom line is it was obviously a move to add depth to their rotation with star center Lauren Jackson out at a minimum of three weeks. Ibekwe, a 6-2 forward from Carson, Calif. and the University of Arizona, who was the 24th selection in the second round of the 2011 Draft.

There were apparently some problems with the stats at KeyArena today, but based on the accounts of people who witnessed the Storm's 76-71 win Ify Ibekwe and Liz Cambage did alright in their first game action. For Ibekwe, that could mean a roster spot. Nolan Richardson also highlighted the play of Kayla Pedersen and Chastity Reed.
