The California Golden Bears ended up playing the Presbyterian Blue Hose because of the one year move to AT&T Park and the conflict with the San Francisco Giants home schedule, the expansion of the Pac-10 to Pac-12, and the length of time it took to resolve games with Colorado and Fresno State. Cal probably did not want to end up playing a team like Presbyterian in 2011.
