Remembering the Seniors: Alexis Gray-Lawson beats Stanford

From StormBasketball.com: "2009 in Review: Ashley Walker"

Another update on Ashley Walker from StormBasketball.com. Question for Cal fans: What did you expect from her at the pro level when she left Cal? "Walker planned to continue that development this offseason while playing in Israel for Maccabi Ashdod. She spent the first half of the season playing with fellow Northern California native Courtney Paris of the Chicago Sky, helping complement Paris' power game with her own finesse. Since the start of January, Walker has been teamed in the frontcourt with WNBA veteran Christi Thomas. During the regular season, Walker averaged 20.0 points per game (seventh in the Israeli DI league), 8.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. She also shot 35.3 percent from beyond the arc, making 12 threes in 18 games. Ashdod swept its quarterfinal series and is one of the favorites in the Israeli playoffs."

"Ashley Walker led Maccabi Ashdod to the lone sweep of a first-round series"

Yes, Ashley Walker is still with the Seattle Storm. But I think people occasionally forget that since the WNBA is a summer league that plays little, women's basketball players actually play year 'round. I've heard from a Storm source that Walker has been playing quite well this year in European ball and should have a strong season after missing most of last season due to injury. I will definitely keep tabs on her for CGB this WNBA season... Go Pac-10.
