Blog From The Fog
A week ago the CGB team received an exciting e-mail from Cal athletics – an invitation to participate in ‘Blog From The Fog,’ a first ever outreach with online voices within the Cal fanbase! We’ll let Cal athletics describe the event:
As a thank you for your support and social prowess, we want to extend an invitation for three of you to join us in our Cal’s "Blog from the Fog" Social Suite on November 12, 2011 during our last home football game at AT&T Park. You, along with other social savvy fans, will be given a pre-game field visit, and will then be invited to watch the Cal vs. Oregon State game from a luxury suite at AT&T to use as a space to blog, tweet, and get social during the game.
So what does this mean? Well, it should mean some pretty awesome pictures for you all to enjoy when we get our photo essays done. And it means that myself, Kodiak and Avinash will have the opportunity to watch the game in the stadium while simultaneously interacting with the rest of the CGB community in the gamethreads and on twitter.
Mostly, we hope this is the beginning of a mutually beneficially relationship between CGB and Cal athletics. In many ways CGB and the athletic department have identical goals: the growth and promotion of Cal fandom and greater recognition of the incredible things being done daily by every coach and athlete in our athletic program.
We offer our thanks firstly to the athletic department for putting this event together and giving us the opportunity to participate. We offer our thanks secondly to you, our readers, who have made CGB so successful, putting us in a position to participate in this event. We'll do our best to bring you back some entertaining content from the game, and we look forward to bringing you live updates on Saturday. Go Bears!

CGB Weekly Guide - Week Of 7.17.11
Exciting soccer game today. Unfortunate that America couldn't come away with the championship. Congratulations to Japan on a hard fought victory.
We have another busy week here at CGB. We're just starting to gear up with the pre-season content. Can't believe the 2011 season is right around the corner. Every year it seems like we are scrambling to get all of our pre-season content up before the season starts. So, this year we're trying to start a bit earlier, so we can take a bit of a more leisurely pace with the content. Hope you enjoy the content this week. We reserve the right to change any post at any time without any content. After the jump, a full schedule. Enjoy and GO BEARS!
CGB Weekly Guides - Week Of 7.10.11
Even in the dog days of summer, there is still Cal-related action going on this week. It won't show up in our Cal Athletics Global Calendar (more on that in a moment), but Alex Morgan and the USA Squad will be taking on France this Wednesday morning. Fresh off of their exhilarating upset of Brazil, the USANT needs to win on Wednesday to make the Finals on Sunday, July 17.
During the course of the year, you can see all of Cal Athletics events in one easy to view location at our Cal Athletics Calendar (the permanent link in stored in the left sidebar in the "About Us" section). Right now, of course, there are none. However, some of the fall sports have started to put up their schedules, so we have to started to add them. Skip ahead to August and you can start to see schedules for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer and more. We hope that that will be an invaluable tool this fall for people trying to keep up with the cavalcade of Cal Athletics events.
For this week, after the jump, we do have a lot of content. Discussions of Cal-Oregon 2010. Information on the 1920 Big Game. More recruiting discussion than you can shake a stick at. So, please join us all this week to discuss these important matters of the day. Thanks and GO BEARS!
CGB Weekly Guides - Week Of 6.12.11
We keep pushing forward! I'll keep this short, because we got baseball to discuss! DELICIOUS BASEBALL! YAY! There is actually nothing else happening in Cal Athletics this week save for baseball. And the schedule hasn't been determined yet, because we are waiting on the other side of the matchup to get figured out tomorrow. So, after the jump, we have just CGB schedule for the week. When the schedule is set for next weekend, we'll post it up. Remember, we reserve all rights to change any posts at any time without prior notice. Enjoy. GO BEARS!
Weekly Guides - Week Of 6.5.11
Getting down to the end of the Cal Athletics schedule. But CGB is all year long, so even as we careen helplessly towards a long summer, you can be sure to keep it locked here (because everybody selects their websites the way that people in the 50s watched TV) all summer long. After the jump, check out the weekly schedule for Cal Athletics and CGB's Weekly Schedule. Of course, all posts are subject to change at any time without prior notice. GO BEARS!
CGB Weekly Guides - Week Of 5.29.11
Another busy week! You think, oh, it's June, football is long gone, basketball hasn't played a game in months, things must be calm. But no! We have softball, we have tennis, we have men's crew, nationally televised rugby, we even (hopefully) have baseball. There is still a lot going on here. A lot to discuss.
I've included the schedule as of now, but there will be changes. The baseball selection show is tomorrow at 9:30 A.M. Hopefully, Cal gets in. More softball matches will be added. The second day of Rugby 7s has yet to be determined. Plus, we're watching as Golden Bear Jason Kidd tries to win the NBA Championship. So, keep it locked here all week long to discuss these stories and much more. After the jump, a full schedule of Cal and CGB. GO BEARS!
CGB Weekly Guides - Week Of 5.22.11
Another Rugby National Championship is in the books! Softball continues on being awesome. Baseball hopes to finish the regular season strong. You can see the Cal athletics schedule for the week after the jump. You can also see the CGB schedule for the week after the jump. We reserve all rights to change any posts at any time without notice! GO BEARS!
CGB 101: FanPosts And FanShots
This is the third in a series of posts about the basics of SB Nation and CGB. You'll find helpful tips about interacting using the SBN interface and some guidelines to follow as we work our way through the series. If you're new, read this over and join us! If you've been around, consider this a refresher course. Many thanks to CougCenter for this assist.
So you know how to post comments on CGB now. You've completed half the battle, but there's still more to learn. One of the nice things about SBN is the ability to create user generated content. This is a fancy way of saying you too can write articles for the blog and share news with the world.
FanPosts and FanShots let you be the writer. If you have something interesting to say or an interesting link/video/picture, SBN allows you to do so quickly and easily, all with a few clicks of a button.
After the jump, let's do this thing. GO BEARS!
