DBD 8/22/14: Breaking News From Giants Country South!

Hidely hodely Cal sports nerbs, I saw this news and thought some of you might be interested. It seems there's this guy named Matt Flemer, who used to wear the blue and gold and throw baseballs by everyone. Unfortunately, the baseball cartel divides up all humans in the land randomly, and not by region, so instead of becoming the property of the San Francisco franchise of the oligarchy, he was assigned to the Denver Purple Dinosaurs.

This was sad news, but the good news is that said Colorado Barneys are affiliated with a California League team, namely the Modesto Nuts of Modesto. The Nuts rolled into San Jose this week, which by the grace of God and the powers vested in Seligula by some really, really terrible caselaw, happens to be the sole, exclusive, unfettered, and perpetual territory of the San Francisco member of the cartel and therefore home of the San Jose Giants. Take it away, MiLB.com:

Modesto's Matt Flemer allowed just one hit and one run over eight dominant innings to lead the Nuts to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Giants on Thursday evening at Municipal Stadium. San Jose was held to just one hit for the entire game as their series sweep bid fell short. With the loss, the Giants (68-62) now sit one game behind Visalia (69-61) for the North Wild Card lead.

Flemer (12-9) struck out eight and issued just one walk during his masterful pitching performance to pick-up the win.

Let's hope this gets our pal Mr. Flemer promoted out of Modesto to their Double A affiliate in the Texas League.... enchanting, magical Tulsa, Oklahoma, home of the Drillers! Drill, Matt baby, Drill! I'm sure he'll miss Al the Almond, Wally the Walnut, and Shelley the Pistachio!

Be nice. You can find the original CGB team at WriteForCalifornia.com.
