The result is certainly disappointing, but the Bears showed plenty of heart and fought hard all game despite still missing their starting senior center Richard Solomon. The Bears was able to hang with a good SMU team (the first team left out of the NCAA tournament) at their home court for the entire game. Justin Cobbs hit a 3 to put the Bears ahead with 15+ seconds left, but SMU answered with their own 3 to end the Bears' season and Justin Cobbs' Cal basketball career (after Cobbs misses a game winning 3 attempt right at the buzzer). Jabari Bird did have arguably the best game of his Cal career. We will have more on this game tomorrow morning, but use this space to vent or speculate how well this team would have done had we play the 4 guards - 1 big lineup more often during the year.
GO BEARS!
