It is not a stretch at all to think that all 6 Cal Bears in finals will medal. Looking ahead to the final day on Sunday, Missy Franklin, Dana Vollmer, Nathan Adrian, and possibly Jessica Hardy (though she will likely have another event) could all be participant in the 4x100 medley relays.

Friday's Action Recap:

For the first day in awhile, Cal managed to not earn any medal. Nevertheless, Friday was still quite a success as multiple Cal swimmers all managed to reserve a lane in the finals on Saturday.

Women's 100 Free

Missy Franklin is apparently human after, pulling double duty for the nth consecutive day, Franklin managed to not win a Gold in a final (5th one) of this year's World Championship. Franklin came awfully close to making the podium but have to join a relatively long list of Cal Bears who have just missed the podium this year.

Semi-Finals:

  • Missy Franklin and Elizabeth Pelton went 1st and 3rd in the semi-finals to make the 200 Back final
  • Anthony Ervin and Nathan Adrian had the 2nd and 3rd best time in the semi to make the 50 Free final
  • Dana Vollmer will also get another chance to medal by qualifying for the final in 50 Fly. She had the 5th best time

Australia is starting to creep on Cal's event medals count, otherwise Cal is solidly in 2nd place. Saturday could/should be a big day for Cal swimming though.
