Happy Fourth of July!
We all get a day off to celebrate our country, and the freedoms we enjoy! Yay! (this is important to me)
We also get to see Fireworks.
As a public service, I went to see the Singing Flag in Concord last night, it's put on by one of our local megachurches, so it's a good serving of 'merica with a side of Jesus. this is the 25th anniversary of the flag, so some local politicians were there to congratulate them.
All told it is about a 2 hour show plus fireworks. Variety show format, with an opening musical number, prayer, some playacted/lipsynced skits to pop culture or TV shows (including the pink panther, scooby doo and others) a playaction sequence of action films, and some good 'merica songs. There's also the audience participation heavy rendition of old McDonald had a farm. They had a professional singer I had never heard of before as the vocal lead, and he was fine.
my biggest complaint of the night was that during the tribute to the american working man, there was no engineer on stage.
I plan to spend most of today with the family, what are you up to?
