So now that my week has calmed down I have a few more stories form our trip to Idaho.
Again, this is a trip that my stepmom's family has taken for 50 years or so... almost annually, and we have been tagging along for a few years now. We went with my twin brothers and my stepmom's older brother's and family. 5 folks in their 50's MRs BA and I, 4 younger cousins (in their
Overall a good time, the kids loved it, and I enjoy anywhere where I can sit and have a drink on the beach.
Tuesday night or so, there's a large private party on the beach across the stream from the main resort. Someone told us it was a staff wedding. Anyhow, my brother walked by and he said he heard "in the name of the Aryan nation, I now pronounce you man and wife". none of the rest of us were there... so we don't know if he is just joshing us.... but it is northern Idaho, former home to the Aryan Nations compound.
went with my uncle, (we'll call him Uncle Tom, well be because that's his name and that's funny enough) for a hike. they had originally planned a pretty much full day hike, somewhat challenging... but... we decided to to go for a shorter hike the night before. subsequent investigation of the route (after we got back ) in the guide book notes: "do not be fooled by the short distance on the map, this 1 mile hike is almost entirely on a 30 degree tallis slope" needless to say, although some of the younger cousins and I were pretty gung ho, there was a collective decision to turn back before someone broke an ankle.
There are other stories, but maybe better for late night some time... anyhow. anybody else been to idaho?
