Maybe it is because I used to fall asleep listening to Giants games as a kid (I couldn't listen to the A's games cause I cared too much and wouldn't fall asleep) but I love listening to baseball games on the radio. I hardly ever do nowdays, since I'm rarely around a radio and not really near a team. But I think baseball became America's Pastime in part because it is perfectly suited for radio. It is easy to visualize, there are large breaks in action, and things don't happen so fast that you can't describe it.
I HATE listening to football or basketball on the radio and soccer and hockey aren't ever broadcast anywhere near where I am. Football and basketball are just suited to TV and I don't think it is a coincidence that their rise coincides with the proliferation of TV's in America.
Just my thoughts on the matter...what do you think?
