Welcome to post-season basketball, Cal fans. The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step over the shattered city of Troy. Or something. I think I got a C+ in english the semester we read Homer.
CGB has previewed the Trojans not once, but twice! And two slogs against USC has taught us a few things. Mainly, that Michael Cooper knows how to gameplan to slow Cal down offensively. But no coach can scheme for everything Cal can throw at them. In game one, USC had no answer for Gennifer Brandon, and she responded with the best individual performance of the year. In game two, Coop was determined to not let Brandon beat the Trojans. He packed the paint to an even greater extreme. So instead, Cal's starting trio of guards combined for 49 points. You've got to pick your poison - USC picked two different poisons in each game, and they both eventually earned Cal a win.
Honestly, I don't have much more to say about USC that hasn't been said already. I just want Cal to crush them. Leave no doubt. After torturing the Bears in years past, after coming perhaps closer than anybody else to costing Cal the Pac-12 title, the Bears need to stomp them.
Hopefully USC will be tired from yesterday's game and today's early start - and they won't have home court advantage like they always used to when the tourney was held at the Galen Center. No mercy Bears, no mercy.
Feel free to use this thread to discuss all the other Pac-12 tournament action taking place after Cal plays USC.
