Georgia cornerback Trey Cheek has finally been cleared to sign his letter of intent and officially become a California Golden Bear.
Shortie but a goodie. Trey Cheek is officially a Bear, and the 2013 recruiting class has finally been wrapped up for Cal football.
I got that LOI from Cal :-) #Cal

Cheek had been waiting awhile to get cleared. He supposedly needed to get the necessary academic scores that would match what the new coaching staff was looking for from their new players. Then after the coaches approved of those scores, the NCAA had to move to clear him properly. It was a long complicated process that resulted in Cheek finally signing with Cal a month after signing day, but the result is still the one all Cal fans hoped would unfold.
Cheek will join Darius Allensworth and Cameron Walker as part of a solid Cal cornerbacking trio that should provide much-needed replenished depth to a unit that currently lacks any. With only maybe one or two Bears in the two-deep that are potentially solid reliable starters, it's quite possible any of these three could see early playing time.
