Golden Recruiting Wire: Cal Football Junior Day Update

Greg Bartram-US PRESSWIRE

Which recruits attended Cal's Junior Day last Saturday?

The general consensus from the recruits who attended appears to be extremely positive. Tweets from prospects have been circulating that not only rave about the facilities, but also say that our coaching staff did a top notch job hosting them.

Here's what some individual prospects had to say on twitter:

Troy Bacon- Apple Valley OL

Highly regarded offensive lineman. Bacon has the size to make a name for himself at the next level, standing at 6'5, 285, and with still a year of high school football to play.

Seems like Bacon really hit it off with coach Yenser. Check out some of the comments on this instragram pic.

Jawain Harrison- Salesian DB

Under the radar recruit. Hasn't registered much online publicity. It's still very early on in the process though.

Michael Lazarus- Berkeley LB

Homegrown recruit who I think will explode on the national scene next fall. We got to snag the local guys, so I'm glad to see that we are going after him very early on. Looks like he's high on Oregon as well.

Looks like Michael got an offer as well. Congrats!

Jordan Thomas- Inderkum DB

CJ Spencer- Inderkum QB

Greg Gaines- La Habra DL

Here's also a Scout.com story on Gaines. Pay walled though.

Jomon Dotson- American Canyon RB

Taller runner with really nice speed. Not the quickest back, but when he gets out in the open he's trouble. No surprise that Oregon is giving him attention. Looks like Harvard is also interested, likely meaning he gets it done in the classroom. He would be a great fit for our program.

Malik Beachum- American Canyon WR/DB

Great athlete who can play both ways. No offers on the table yet, but if it means anything, he's visited Berkeley on two unofficials this year.

DJ Calhoun- El Cerrito LB

Got offered during Junior Day. Really good prospect. Undersized, but could stand to put on at least 20-30 pounds-he's only a high school junior so that will come. Has received offers from most of the PAC-12. Would be a great early pick up for us if we could get him to commit.

Nifae Lealao- Capital Christian DE

Lealao has the ideal size for a defense end, standing at 6'5, roughly around 280. Here's a nice little article on him that will give you an idea of how unique his skillset is.

Adarius Pickett- El Cerrito CB

Nick Wilson- Central East RB

Sumner Houston- De La Salle DL
