Bears' tough road trip continues with one final game against the Houston Cougars in the Astros Foundation College Classic. Can the Bears stop the current 4 game slide today? Go Bears!
After taking just 1 of 4 games from UC Irvine last weekend (although the Bears had good chances to win in 3 of those 4 games), things have not been so pretty this weekend in Houston. Although Friday ace Justin Jones pitched better (2 runs allowed in 4 innings, but also allowed 7 hits and 3 walks for a WHIP of 2.5), Bears lost 9-0 to Baylor to open this weekend tournament. Yesterday against No.1 North Carolina, the Bears were doomed by allowing 8 runs in the 4th to fall 11-5. Looking for some positives, the Bears did score 4 runs in the 6th, so maybe there will be som offensive momentum carry over to today. Bears did start freshman lefty Jake Shulz in yesterday's game, perhaps saving Kyle Porter for tomorrow's one game road trip at Rice (site of the greatest Cal (Baseball) Comeback in History) at 1 PM PT?
