NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament: Friday Sweet 16 Open Thread

USA TODAY Sports

When you see "Florida Gulf Coast," does it remind you of "Orange Coast College"? Well, here's the difference: Florida Gulf Coast only sounds like a junior college; it is a university. Another difference? FGCU has a darn good basketball team that has a chance to go to the Elite Eight.

The last four spots in the Elite Eight are up for grabs tonight as the Friday portion of the Sweet 16 gets going. In last night's action, the big stories were Ohio State eliminating Arizona with a late three-pointer. Arizona had its chances to win the game but gave up a much-too-open look to the Buckeyes' LaQuinton Ross at the end of the game. Clutcheyes? Luckeyes? You be the judge.

In the other big story from the first night of the Sweet 16 (at least to Cal fans), the team that eliminated Cal -- the Syracuse Orange -- eliminated East # 1 seed Indiana.

Tonight, the Midwest and South regions take the floor for the Sweet 16. Oregon is the only Pac-12 team remaining the field, but the Ducks will have a tall task to stay in it, taking on #1 overall seed Louisville.

Here is tonight's schedule:

TIME (PT) MATCHUP TV

4:15 PM (12) Oregon vs (1) Louisville at Indianapolis
CBS
4:37 PM (4) Michigan vs (1) Kansas at Arlington, TX
TBS
6:45 PM (3) Michigan State vs (2) Duke at Indianapolis
CBS
6:57 PM (15) Florida Gulf Coast vs (3) Florida at Arlington, TX
TBS

This is your open thread for the Friday night Sweet 16 action. Enjoy the games.
