I don't have many words to add. Even if I had been able to see the game, what would I need to say? This is the best women's basketball team in Cal history. They have done many things that no team before them has done, but today they accomplished their most significant first with a conference championship.
Talia Caldwell was amazing. Three players recorded double doubles. The Bears dominated the paint like they had never done before to a conference foe. The game was never in doubt.
There is a long, long way to go in this season. These Bears are surely not satisfied with a share of the Pac-12 title. But for us fans, who remember watching Layshia score 29 against UC Davis three years ago in the WNIT, who remember waiting for Gen Brandon's stress fracture to heal, who remember nervously waiting to see if Reshanda Gray and Brittany Boyd would still want to come to Cal when Lindsay Gottlieb was hired . . . this is a chance to reflect on a truly amazing journey for the players and coaches on this team.
Congrats, Bears. Thanks for letting me watch.
