From CalBears.com Gamenote:
Wednesday’s game against Baylor will require a steel defense and top pitching performance from Cal to quash the heavy-hitting Lady Bears. Baylor travels to Hawaii with a .322 batting average and an arsenal of highly consistent batters. Three of Baylor’s four batters who have started all 25 games for the team are batting above .300 – Kaitlyn Thuman (.429), Kathy Shelton (.369) and Linsey Hays (.317). Leading the Baylor batters is Sarah Smith, who has recorded 32 hits in her 63 at-bats through 24 games. The Lady Bears also have a variety of solid pitchers to choose from who combine for 1.04 ERA, but Whitney Canion (11-2) will likely start in the circle against California. The junior tossed her fourth career no-hitter against Purdue on Sunday and owns a 0.97 ERA in 15 games played. Earlier this month, Canion pitched 11 strikeouts against Arizona State to hand the team its only loss the season with a 6-2 upset.
GO (CAL GOLDEN) BEARS!
