More on spring practice: Depth chart (offense) D.C. (defense)
Here are some things to watch for.
- How much the quarterbacks run. Austin Hinder has been the quarterback who's most impressed me with his wheels, although he's probably a step behind Jared Goff and Zach Kline in the passing department. If Hinder can keep on making good decisions with his feet, there might be potential subpackages Dykes installs to take advantage of his athleticism in the open field if he doesn't win the job.
- Which wide receivers line out where. Chris Harper in non-contact pads will be something to watch. Darius Powe will try and find a place in the rotation. Can Jackson Bouza hang onto slot receiver responsibilities? Is Drake Whitehurst ready to become a secret weapon in obvious one-on-one jump ball situations?
- Who lines up where in which formation. General stuff. What happens in the diamond/grizzly/special bear whatever you call it. Just anything and everything worth looking at that differs from the norm.
- Time to take a look at the blocking schemes the Bears are running. Is it zone with a dash of power? Is power substituted for zone in potential zone situations? There are lots of things worth exploring here.
