By which title I mean what I expect to find when I go to the office this morning. Between federal customers burning their use-or-lose leave and everyone else on my project having bailed for the week, I can look forward to some serious peace and quiet this morning in the office... unlike the house, where one might find children on winter break and in-laws on the loose.
Since I have time on my hands, I've started to catch up on my reading, including a suggestion that the English Premiere League consider emulating other European leagues and have a Christmas break (boo!) and an op-ed piece about becoming a US citizen that certainly rang some bells:
Any sentiment I might have had about finally being a citizen, with the right to vote, access to benefits, and the ability to cross the border without suspicion, had been vapourised by the condescending tone of the whole event. My partner and I left the courthouse as fast as we could without arousing the suspicion that we had set a time bomb, and set off for the nearest bar.
I still think that if her ceremony was like the one I attended and included listening to this ditty, she'd have been more enthusiastic. Moaning Brits, eh?
