Cal All-Time Series vs. the Buffaloes: 4-2
Last meeting: W, 3-0 (10-9-2013)

Coming off a brilliantly resilient match where they saved 14 set points to sweep Utah (who had better RPI than Colorado), the Bears will look to complete a road sweep of the mountain schools when they face off against the Colorado Buffs tonight. Prior to their match few days ago against No.6 Stanfurd, Colorado had been undefeated at home, registering wins over top 5 teams in Washington.

Although the Bears beat the Buffs in 3 sets earlier in Berkeley, this match will likely be tough.

About the Buffs:

Junior Taylor Simpson leads CU with 3.38 kills per set and ranks eighth in the Pac-12. Sophomore Alexis Austin is second on the team with 2.69 kills per set. The best hitting percentage on the squad belongs to junior Kelsey English at .367, which is sixth in the Pac-12. She has recorded 150 kills and 34 errors on 316 attacks this season. She is also second in the league in service aces, averaging 0.40 per set.

The offense is directed by sophomore Nicole Edelman. She is averaging 10.30 assists per set this season, the fifth best in the league, while helping the Buffs to a .235 attack percentage. Edelman has also added 61 kills of her own and is hitting .387.

Cal's weekly video highlighting a Cal Olympic Sports athlete (Cal Olympic Sports Report) did a story on freshman setter Alyssa Jensen, her family (mainly her father's battle with pancreatic cancer), and her yearly efforts in raising money to fight cancer.

On a lighter note, Cal Volleyball players answer the very important question of "Do you want to be a Rock Star or a Movie Star"?

Finally, senior outside hitter Adrienne Gehan discussed the various Halloween costumes worn by the team last week, from her blog, Diggin' it with Adrienne Gehan.

This past week the team went to the Cal men's basketball game on Halloween. Some of us dressed up for the occasion, including Maddy as a vampire, Sabrina as a deer and Katie and Alyssa as sailors. After the game, the team cooked S'mores at Christina and Lindsey's apartment. Joan was the fire master and although the night remained safe, she may have enjoyed using the lighter fluid a little too much. Despite the sporadic bursts of flames, the night was super fun and it was great to spend Halloween with the team before our match against USC.
