Cal All-Time Series vs. the Huskies: 29-31
Last meeting: L, 3-2 (11-7-2012)
Bears were only able to split their two matches at home last week, against Colorado (3-0 win) and Utah (1-3 loss). This week, the Bears travel up to Washington state for matches against University of Washington tonight and Washington State on Saturday night (same time as the Football game). According to senior Outside HItter Adrienne Gehan's blog, the Bears are missing "four days of school (during midterms)".
The Washington Huskies only have one loss this season, which took place in the altitude of Boulder, Colorado. Not surprisingly, given their success, the Huskies are 2nd in the country with 1.98 and 7th in hitting percentage with 0.309.
The key for the Bears, is to return to the solid play that was amiss in Sunday's Utah match. With the solid blocking from the Utes, the Bears appeared flustered after having their hitting attempts blocked. If the Bears can show the same intangibles as they had down in LA two weeks ago, showing the same fight and mental toughness even if they fall behind, they just might be able to surprise UW.
