Cal on Pac-12 Networks Losing Streak Busting Open Thread: Soccer vs. San Francisco

Sure, Alex Morgan has graduated and moved on from Cal Women Soccer, but maybe posting her picture can help Cal Women Soccer to finally get a win on the Pac-12 Network today.

Update: Cal finally has a victory on the Pac-12 Networks as Cal Women Soccer won 3-0 over the San Francisco Dons. Read recap here. Grace Leer, who claimed in the video below at age 11 that "making people happy, makes her happy" made Cal fans happy with a goal and an assist.

Also, catch Cal Volleyball in action here at 8 PM PT.

Time: 12 PM PT

Okay, it's long overdue for Cal to win any kind of game (after 2 Field Hockey, 1 Women Soccer, and then yesterday) on the spanking new Pac-12 Networks. Sure, the odds are kind of stacked in that only games vs. quality opponents were picked to be on the Pac-12 Networks, but these have also been Cal home games.

Today, No. 17 Cal Women Soccer (3-2) will host the unranked San Francisco Dons (2-1-2). Maybe this will be the beginning of a long Cal on Pac-12 Networks winning streak.

In today's "Know Your Cal Bears", we have Red Shirt Sophomore Grace Leer. The Pac-12 Network went out of their way to show the national anthem in the last Cal Women's Soccer game and it was an interesting and jazzed-up version by Grace Leer. Apparently, Grace has a lot of experience singing in front of people, including this following clip from National TV (American Junior quite a few years ago...the fact that I vaguely remembered this show made me feel quite old).

Not unexpected, our Cal student-athletes are multi-talented.

After the jump, we have the rest of Cal action for today, including link to view the Cal Volleyball match @ Hawaii at 8 PM PT.

  • No.22 Men's Soccer travels to Maryland to take on the No.3/6 Maryland Terrapins at 4 PM PT. Follow the game via Gametracker or the subscription based online stream.
  • No.25 Women's Volleyball will look to salvage the Hawaii trip with a huge upset over the host No. 6 Hawaii. Correy Johnson has finally returned for the Bears for the past 1.5 matches. After dropping three extremely tight sets to Baylor and then another 5 set thriller to San Francisco, Bears will play host Hawaii at 8 PM PT tonight.
