London 2012 Olympic Games: Primetime Open Thread (West Coast)

Stay connected for news and updates

Can Natalie Coughlin tie the US record for most medals ever today? What kind of medal would be #12?

First official night of primetime Olympics coverage should include some Cal presence. If you know what happened already, please do not spoil it for those watching in primetime. I realize that it is 2012 and there are 1,001 ways in which to find out what happened prior to NBC's 8 hour+ (!!!) tape delay. But for some people, they want to try to enjoy the Olympics without prior knowledge, so let's try to respect that. Thanks.

Here is the East Coast thread if you wanna head there.

Here is the official description

Host Bob Costas takes you around London and looks at the day in swimming, including the first of two head-to-head meetings between Lochte and Phelps in the 400m IM and how the U.S. women fared in the final of the 4x100m freestyle relay. The show moves from the pool to gymnastics and highlights the men’s qualifications. Finally, two-time defending Olympic beach volleyball champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings face their first challenge in their quest to become the first three-time beach champions.

Natalie Coughlin (USA) and the rest of the US Women's 4x100 m relay should be featured. I wouldn't be surprised if Dana Vollmer (USA) also made the show. GO BEARS!
