Why Nathan Adrian will Medal at the Olympics

Because the Olympics are comprised of the best athletes in the world, it is hard to say who is the clear winner in any event. But after meeting Nathan Adrian and watching him prepare for the Olympics, it is hard to imagine him coming away without a medal. And it isn't just because he is pure muscle, or because he is a tested and true swimmer. I think it is because he is humble and grounded.

Nathan has been inundated with press and video crews wanting to capture an interview with him in the last month. He is adorned by fans all over the world and even as I followed him around all day, he was still able to take time to be real with his twitter followers and fellow Golden Bear swimmers.

After watching him take on a 90 minute morning routine, an afternoon weightlifting session and an afternoon swimming session, I was sure he would want to cut our interview short. Instead, Nathan gave me the same attention and energy he gave everyone else that day. His maturity and sincerity is what puts him ahead of the competition. He isn't going to let the glamour get to him. He believes in himself and he is confident in his ability, but he knows he has to put in 110% every day all the way up to that last stroke.

The following video is one in a series of videos I created that day. It gives you a glimpse at the training he is doing right now as he prepares for the Olympics. It is also a testament to his humbleness and the virtues I believe will help Nathan Adrian bring home a medal.
